Attending a Committee Meeting
The schedule and archive for Committee on Environmental Protection and Energy meetings is available on the City Clerk's website.
Providing Written Public Comment
The Committee on Environmental Protection and Energy accepts written public comments for all meetings until 2 pm the day BEFORE a meeting is scheduled. All written public comments should be emailed to committeeonenvironmentalprotectionandenergy@cityofchicago.org.
Signing up for In-Person Public Comment
Those wishing to sign up for in-person public comment must do so in person on the day of the meeting by filling out a pink slip with the Sergeant at Arms. A table will be set up in the back of Council Chambers or Room 201A where members of the public can complete the pink slip form before the meeting starts. Doors to the meeting space typically open to the public about 15 minutes in advance of the meeting.

Please note that City Council Rule 58E limits the public comment period to 30 minutes total, with each participant limited to three minutes. As such, there is no assurance that every person who calls or arrives in person for the public comment period will have the opportunity to speak.
Signing up for Remote Public Comment
Instructions on how to sign up for remote public comment are available on the City Clerk's website.

Those wishing to sign up for remote public comment must call 312-744-6800 and leave a voice message with their name and telephone number. Requests to participate in remote public comment will only be accepted from 10:00 a.m. two (2) business days before the scheduled meeting until 9:00 a.m. the business day before the scheduled meeting.

After 9:00 a.m. on the business day before the scheduled meeting, the Sergeant-at-Arms will compile a list of names and telephone numbers of individuals who left a voicemail to participate in remote public comment. Then, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. the business day before the scheduled committee meeting, the Sergeant-at-Arms will contact each selected participant at the telephone number they provided, and give them instructions on how to access the meeting, including a telephone number they will need to call and a password. The Sergeant-at-Arms will only make one (1) attempt to call the selected participant. If no one answers the call, their opportunity to participate in remote public comment is forfeited.

During the day of the committee meeting, the selected participants for remote public comment must call into the meeting from the telephone number they provided the Sergeant-at-Arms when making the request for participation. They must wait to speak and unmute themselves until being called upon by the chair to speak.

Those wishing to participate in remote public comment must be available at the scheduled start time of the committee meeting and have access to a touch-tone telephone.
